A traditional English Village Fete takes place in Lightwater every May or June on the Recreation Ground, Broadway Road, Lightwater, GU18 5SJ (behind the Church)
The Organisers maintain very close links with All Saints Church, the local Councils, all voluntary groups, local businesses and interest groups and local talent. Participation is encouraged by the local schools (Maypole Dancing) and dance, performance arts and theatre groups (such as Terri Jayne Theatre Arts).
Entry is always free, but it always aims to break even every year. Any surplus funds are passed on to local worthy causes. This year, funds have been donated to the Lightwater Village School for Kitchen education and play equipment and also to the Scouts to put towards the purchase of the freehold of their site in The Avenue, Lightwater.
But, to maintain interest and the high standards it has achieved to date, it needs a constant new supply of ideas and people to volunteer.
